WABA NUN-NUNG GOSPEL CHAPELRev. Richard Jensen, Pastor
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ? (Eph 1:3). In addition to blessing us in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus God has also blessed us with many new opportunities for ministry in the past three months. Our weekly study in Genesis is teaching us about the faithful heart and character of God and the ever changing heart of man. Our Good Friday service was a blessing. We had more people attend than in any previous years. We tried something different for the service this year. I had a cross at the front of the church with a hammer and nails. Cheryl passed out pencil and paper to all of those at the service as they came in. After the devotional I invited everyone to write their personal burdens down on the paper and come forward and nail them to the cross. Nearly everyone at the service participated. On Easter Sunday morning we met for breakfast before the church service and enjoyed a good meal and fellowship. There were several visitors at the service and we made them feel welcome. In Junior church, Cheryl is teaching the children the book of Exodus. For the national day of prayer on May 6th we had the church open all day. Cheryl and I were there to pray with people and we had Scripture CD’s playing in the back ground. We had several people come with needs for prayer.
In the community during the week God has opened up two new doors of opportunity. A native believer who lives in the community expressed a willingness and desire to go out visiting with me door to door. I have gone out by myself in the past but have had only limited success getting into the homes of the unchurched. Having a Native believer, who is excited about his faith, go with me has made all the difference. We go door to door every Monday and are steadily working our way through the Mole Lake community. Since many of the people who open the doors know him they will talk with us, listen to us share the gospel with them, and let us pray with them for their needs. The opportunity to share the life transforming message of Jesus Christ so frequently is a blessing. In addition a new opportunity has opened up for Cheryl. Some of the ladies she eats lunch with at the elderly center on Tuesday expressed interest in having a Bible study. She now meets with them every Tuesday after the meal and are studying the gospel of John. In addition to these new opportunities God is continuing to bless our other on going ministries. Our lunch meetings with the elders on Tuesdays are still yielding opportunities to witness and build friendships. Cheryl is still preparing the diabetic meals for the Mole Lake Community once a month and many of the community members are big fans of her cooking. The food pantry is still increasingly busy. We are getting to know the people that come regularly come and build friendships with them. There is rarely a week that goes by when someone new to the pantry doesn’t come during each of our shifts. The pantry now serves over 300 families and feeds over 1000 people. God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!
